To work on a pantomime is an epic and wondrous thing. To create a larger than life production full of movement pathways and shapes to entertain, bring joy and laughter over the festive season is such a purely joyous way of working for me. Having a background that predominantly lies in contemporary dance theatre practices, it has been an enlightening and liberating experience to be in the studio, cultivating movement that is fun, playful and full of comedy, that enhances the storytelling and truly encapsulates the magic vibrancy that is often many peoples, particularly young audiences, first exposure to live theatre. Being a Rock N Roll Pantomime, this production saw me choreographing sequences for performers that act, sing, dance and play a multitude of instruments. Robin Hood featured a glorious and playful set design, that we jumped, slid, swung and climbed in, on and around. This was my third time choreographing for panto at Theatr Clwyd, and it is always pure joy to end the year with a sublime cast and creative team. Last year we were nominated for seven awards by the UK Pantomime Association, going on to win best villain and best pantomime under 500 seats so I couldn’t be prouder of this show and the people in it! This Christmas 2023 you will find me back in Flintshire choreographing in the big circus top tent for Theatr Clwyd’s Sleeping Beauty, rehearsals have begun, so get your tickets now

C12 Dance Theatre

UK, and International Tours 2005-2018

When Annie-Lunnette left Middlesex University in 2005 she set up a dance theatre company called C-12 Dance Theatre, alongside Adam Towndrow and Nasae Evanson. During her years of working in this company her roles included teaching, choreographing, producing and running this small to mid-scale dance company, that made indoor and outdoor productions that toured across the UK and Europe. Annie-Lunnette devised, choreographed and produced a multitude of works over a 12 year span, and of the many many many highlights of her time with C-12 Dance Theatre, evidence of a few shows can be seen here;

Trolleys (2012-2018), a production which toured for several years, directed by Shaun Parker, that Annie-Lunnette assisted and produced, was an outdoor 20 minute supermarket trolley ballet of physical feats and beautiful fluidity, having the chance to take this show across Europe and Australia was an absolute career highlight of hers!

Shhh! (2013-2016) Annie-Lunnettes’ concept and choreography, as a full length indoor production set in a library exploring themes of community cohesion, the love of books and reading as a passionate force for escapism, and destruction of the closing down of these public community spaces.

The Van Man (2012), Annie-Lunnettes’ (concept and choreography) was a short outdoor production set in and around a Luton Van that explored themes of isolation, loneliness and being on the road while striving for genuine connections with others.

I often find myself walking into studios and having to navigate collaborating with a whole new team of creatives and performers for the first time. This was one of those magical experiences that led to being a beautiful production, and an experience that is very close to my heart. You Bury Me is a production of new writing by Alham, who won The Womens Prize for playwriting 2020, an explosive, political debut about a generation emerging from a national trauma, determined to live and love freely. Set in Cairo Egypt, addressing the aftermath of the 2011 revolution for young people. Described as a love letter to Cairo with all its complexities and nuances. Here I worked with a cast of six performers, some with little movement training, who’s characters and stories interweaved and intertwined throughout the production. The production became a high paced, dynamic and extremely physical production, with the movement emerging from the themes, energy and ideals around the city of Cairo’s vibrancy – the hustling, bustling city that had undertones of darkness and fear, as well as a community of connection and people patriotic to the land that they are born on. I worked closely with Katie to shape the world of the piece, the show opened at Bristol Old Vic, in a traditional proscenium theatre, then went on to be adapted for the more intimate space at the Orange Tree Theatre in the round. This production was hilarious and heart-breaking in equal measure. So very proud of this production, working with such a talented bunch of artists to tell this beautiful story.
